Yoda Kush – Strain Review

Yoda Kush is a like a Motrin! (I know you can see the dispensary name! It is okay!)
Yoda Kush is a like a Motrin! (I know you can see the dispensary name! It is okay!)

Type:  Yoda Kush, indica (notice a trend?!)

Uses:  nausea, minor to moderate pain, nerve pain, minor spasms

Medicine Replaced:  OTC (over the counter) NSAIDS, TUMS

Smell:  like smashed grass with a few pine needles mixed in

Commentary:  Yoda Kush is an indica dominant medicine that can be used in the daytime or added to a night-time strain to help boost pain fighting power.  It would be like adding ibuprofen to oxycodone to boost its effect.

Agent Orange – Strain Review

Agent Orange is a sativa great for depression and anxiety.  Agent Orange is a sativa great for depression and anxiety.

Type:  Agent Orange, sativa dominant

Uses:  euphoria, focus, energy, head aches, depression, anxiety, ADD, ADHD, nausea, nerve pain

Medicine Replaced:  xanax,  prozac, promethazine, NSAIDS to OTC naproxen, TUMS

Smell:   potting soil and smashed citrus peels (Clearly I don’t have a creative schnoz.)

Commentary:  I actually just medicated with this particular strain because it had been so long since I used this one.  After 5 draws of the vaporizer, I could feel my mind racing already.  This is an energy, euphoria strain that would mostly replace depression/anxiety medications or ADD/ADHD medications.  ***NEVER STOP A MEDICATION YOURSELF.  WORK WITH YOUR DOCTOR ON YOUR MMJ JOURNEY***   I am a slight bit more hypersensitive of bone on bone pain with this strain of sativa.  (See why I have not used it in a while?)  Not many people get that hypersensitivity, and could just be my reaction.  I know some people who use Agent Orange as their #1 for nerve issues and OCD anxiety.

Wifi x Emperor Kush – Strain Review

This strain is the second from the top. Unfortunately, I don't have a great photo, since it was the first sativa I tried.
This strain is the second from the top. Unfortunately, I don’t have a great photo, since it was the first sativa I tried.

Type:  Wifi x Emperor Kush, sativa dominant

Uses: head aches, mild to moderate pain, nausea, gastrointestinal issues, nerve pain, neuropathy, depression

Medicine Replaced:  zofran, prilosec, prozac, NSAIDS to Celebrex

Smell:  Like a tomato plant and a pine tree fell in love.

Commentary:  This was one of the first sativas I tried for day time pain relief.  At first, I felt the bone on bone more, but that went away after the 2nd use.  Ultimately, I combined this with Harlequin to provide the effect of Celebrex.  Wifi x Emperor Kush did not make me drowsy and left me clear-headed and functional after about 25 minutes.   This is a particularly rare strain, so you may not come across it a lot or at all.  I have only laid eyes on these genetics once in 2 months.

Skywalker Kush – Strain Review

Skywalker Kush will help gastrointestinal issues while leaving you mindful enough to fight the Empire. Yeah - cheesy I know, but HAD to put that in there somewhere.
Skywalker Kush will help gastrointestinal issues while leaving you mindful enough to fight the Empire. Yeah – cheesy I know, but HAD to put that in there somewhere.

Type:  Skywalker Kush, indica dominant

Uses:  Great daytime strain for minor pain, nausea, gastrointestinal, anxiety, and depression.

Medicine Replaced: TUMS, NSAIDS up to naproxen, lexapro, paxil

Smell:  This particular strain smelled like hops and pine scented floor cleaner!

Commentary:  Skywalker Kush was fabulous during the day.  It was not one I held high hopes for (wasn’t keen on the dispensary), but it relieved minor pain and left me clear headed.  Under the influence of Skywalker, I cleaned the common rooms in my house, did laundry, finished dishes, cooked a pretty gourmet meal, and caught up on some overdue work.  Unfortunately, it is only for minor pains though!  Imagine all that from a heavy hitter pain strain!  That would be a gift from Mother Nature to all the Autoimmuners of the world!

Star Killer – Strain Review

Star Killer is indica dominant and a great daytime strain.
Star Killer is indica dominant and a great daytime strain.

Type:  Star Killer, indica with sativa overtones

Uses:  mild to moderate pain, nausea, focus, nerve pain, neuropathy, muscle relaxation

Medicine Replaced: NSAIDS, low dose hydrocodone, zofran, promethazine

Smell:  Smells like the green parts to tomato plants or bee balm/bergamot leaves!

Commentary:  Star Killer is an indica dominant, but for some reason I feel more sativa like effects.  This is a great strain for head aches, minor to moderate pain, or trying to loosen one’s muscles.  Star Killer is one I save for day time since I tend to function pretty well after about 25 minutes.

Sensi Star – Strain Review

Sensi Star looks like a crystal covered, pastel green, red-headed stepchild.
Sensi Star looks like a crystal covered, pastel green, red-headed stepchild.

Type:  Sensi Star, indica

Uses: mild to moderate pain, nausea, nerve spasms, muscle spasms, head aches, energy, focus

Medicine Replaced: NSAIDS, muscle relaxers, zofran

Smell:  Not particularly piney, but more like a melon that has been sitting in the sun for a couple of days.  Not rotten just yet, but sweet with a slightly tart smell.

Commentary:  Sensi Star has a very distinct aroma and taste.  This is my energetic, creative strain for daytime pain relief.  I use this when I know I will be home, but I need more pain relief than an NSAID.  Sensi Star can handle moderate pain, but not severe.  This is a good spasm strain and for anything with nerves.

Fire OG – Strain Review

Fire OG is a powerful indica that can be used for daytime pain in small doses and insomnia in higher doses.
Fire OG is a powerful indica that can be used for daytime pain in small doses and insomnia in higher doses.

Type:  Fire OG, indica

Uses:  moderate to severe pain, severe nausea, migranes, insomnia, seizures, spasms, neuropathy

Medicine Replaced:  oxycodone, oxymorphone, morphine, lorazapam

Smell:  Almost like smelling fresh ground parsley with a hint of fruit rind.

Commentary:  Fire OG is a really gentle medicine for severe symptoms and sleep.  This is one of the premier pain relief indicas, but will cause couch lock in high doses.  For insomnia, higher doses are much gentler and restful sleep than sleeping pills.  Waking up the next morning is hangover free if vaporizing flower.   A couple of times, after just a few draws, I have been able to write or clean after using Fire OG to medicate.

Orange Kush – Strain Review

This was the second strain I tried so I don’t have a photo.

Type: Orange kush, indica

Uses: mild to moderate pain, depression, insomnia, muscle spasms, nausea, neuropathy

Medicine Replaced: Celebrex, hydrocodone, tramadol

Smell: Orange Kush smells like a bunch of pine trees fell on a crate of oranges.

Commentary:  While there is decent muscle pain relief, I felt the bone on bone pain much more intensely with this one.  Now keep in mind, this is MY reaction and yours could be completely different.  Several people I know, LOVE this strain and any of the “oranges” for the euphoria.  If you have anxiety or depression, this is also a fantastic strain for you.

Tutti Fruiti – Strain Review

One of my favorite daytime Sativas, Tutti Fruiti is added pain relief for when you need to function!
One of my favorite daytime Sativas, Tutti Fruiti is added pain relief for when you need to function!

Type: Tutti Fruiti, Sativa dominant

Uses:  Muscle spasms, neuropathy, nerve pain, nausea, moderate pain

Medicine Replaced:  hydrocodone, tramadol, Celebrex

Smell:  Slighty fruity (YAY!  I smelled fruit finally!) with a hint of thyme.

Commentary:  Tutti Fruiti is the first strain I go to for daytime pain.  If there is a front coming in, but I have to function – I use Tutti Fruiti.  Just today, I used it for severe nerve related muscle spasms that resulted in a full upper body “Charlie Horse”.  I have not seized since!  Sometimes I mix this in with a high CBD strain for some added anti-inflammatory action.  This can be used for any of the general uses of marijuana with good results.

Purple Trainwreck – Strain Review

This is a great indica for pain! Purple Trainwreck is a valuable medicine for anyone with chronic pain.
This is a great indica for pain! Purple Trainwreck is a valuable medicine for anyone with chronic pain.

Type: Purple Trainwreck,  indica

Medicine replaced: Vicoden, NSAIDS, oxycodone, muscle relaxers

Uses: severe pain, migraines, insomnia, neuropathy, muscle spasms, PMS, nausea

Smell:  This strain has a smell more reminiscent of your spice cabinet.

Commentary:  Purple Trainwreck is a great strain for pain.  It relaxes all the muscles and dulls any pains in the body.   On days where you are having severe pain, this strain is nice to have in the cabinet.   Sometimes, if I need extra relief during the night – I mix this with Alien OG.  The pain relief of the purples is really fantastic.   It does tend to come on a little slower, so be careful.  Start small and wait in between draws.  You don’t want to over consume, else you will be in for a nap!
